Music Newsletter: December 2022

December is a very musical month at Foothills! Our choir will be performing for services throughout December––read below to learn when you can see the Children’s Choir, Adult Choir, and Foothills Madrigals sing this month.

If you’d like to do some singing yourself, you’re invited to join our caroling group at Columbine Senior Living this Saturday afternoon! No rehearsal is necessary – just email me at benjamin@foothillsuu.org to tell me you’re interested and show up on Saturday! Read on for details.

Caroling at Columbine Senior Living
Saturday, December 17 at 2:00pm

Join Foothills members Gailmarie Kimmel and William Timpson for an informal, unrehearsed and heart-filled hour of caroling. We’re joyful to resume this 25-year-long tradition after a 2-year hiatus. All are invited to gather and sing with friends from the Fort Collins community at Columbine West Health and Rehab, 940 Worthington Circle, this Saturday 12/17 at 2:00pm. Solo songs or individual readings are also welcome. Festive hats and clothes much encouraged for these elders’ enjoyment! Masks are required. Please let Benjamin know you’ll be coming at benjamin@foothillsuu.org, and someone will greet you upon arrival at Columbine on Saturday.

Adult & Children’s Choirs Performing
This Sunday, December 18 at 8:30 and 10:00am

Come to services this Sunday to hear Foothills’ choirs present holiday music! The adult choir will sing at the 8:30am service, and the children’s choir will sing at the 10:00am service. Whichever service you attend, you’ll be able to enjoy songs from our choirs celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas.

Winter Solstice Vespers Service
Wednesday, December 21 at 6:30pm

Next Wednesday, December 21, is the winter solstice, and we will commemorate the darkest day of the year with an evening service of ritual, reflection, and music at 6:30pm. The service will include music performed by the Foothills Madrigals, instrumentalists from our community, and congregational songs that celebrate the darkness and coming of the light.

Christmas Eve Services
Saturday, December 24 at 3:00, 5:00, and 9:00pm

Come celebrate Christmas Eve with festive stories and carols! The 3:00pm and 5:00pm services will involve children & youth retelling the Christmas nativity story. (The 3:00pm service will also feature the Foothills Children’s Choir!) The 9:00pm service will be a contemplative, candlelit service, featuring music by the Foothills Madrigals. Be sure to register for the service time you’re planning to attend soon – seats are filling fast! Learn more and save your spot today at foothillsuu.org/christmas.
