Are past experiences with religion weighing on you? Do certain church words make your skin crawl? Is it sometimes hard to see yourself as a church goer – let alone tell others that you attend?

At Foothills, we’re all on a journey to find more connection, meaning and joy, and we all bring with us past experiences in matters of faith and belonging. Sometimes, though, past experiences become barriers to fully engaging in spiritual community.

Join us for a six-session small group beginning April 30. Through storytelling, ritual, and embodied practices, we will seek to lighten the load of painful religious experiences and make room for new stories to unfold. Facilitated by Caring Team member Karen Harder with Lizzy Bringhurst and Ashley Chism, this is a group for anyone who is has felt hurt, betrayed, forgotten, alienated, or misunderstood by a past faith community and is looking to release, reframe, reclaim, and reimagine the way forward.begi

Through storytelling, ritual, and embodied practices, we w Join us Monday, April 15 from 6-8 PM in Unity hall to create a personal expression of your love for our planet and nature. We’ll use recycled materials, simple collages from magazine photos and heartfelt words to create a love postcard to the Earth. It can speak to your sense of wonder or responsibility or gratefulness to those working to heal and regenerate our world.

These love postcards will be used to craft an art installation in the social hall for Earth Day Sunday (April 21) and will also be integrated into that Sunday’s worship. If you are unable to join us, you can submit your love postcard in person at the office or via email at hello@foothillsuu.org by April 15.
