Foothills Buckhorn Retreat
August 31 @ 12:00 am - September 3 @ 12:00 am
We all long for connection, to build deep relationships and find a sense of belonging. And yet… we are inundated with disturbing news stories about all of the ways that we are divided. Foothills Unitarian Church offers a unique way to connect to others based on a shared commitment to spiritual growth and a shared goal of spreading more love in the world. It can be hard to meet people at church, especially as our community gets larger. We are seeing lots of new faces at Foothills every Sunday! It is wonderful to see new folks showing up to hear the good news of Unitarian Universalism and our radically inclusive, justice loving faith tradition. If you are new, we are so very happy that you are here. Whether you are brand new to Foothills or a longtime member, we hope that you are continually finding ways to make connections in our Foothills community.
Our annual Foothills Church Retreat at the Buckhorn Camp is often mentioned as a way that people have found deep connections at Foothills. Many have said that Buckhorn Retreat was the place they really got to know people at Foothills for the first time and decided that this was the spiritual community for them.
The retreat will be held August 31 – September 3
We offer 2 or 3 night options and all of your delicious meals are included. Yes! That’s an entire weekend without cooking or dishes! The retreat offers many different workshops and activities including discussions, spiritual practices, music, hikes and games, campfires, our traditional evening game show and a beautiful outdoor worship service on Sunday morning. You can get up early to be greeted by a beautiful sunrise and morning yoga and enjoy coffee on the lodge porch with new and old friends. You can participate in lots of group activities…or just spend the day reading and relaxing. Buckhorn is great for families. Our Foothills children and youth love coming to the Buckhorn retreat and the friends they make there. The retreat is also a wonderful way for adults of all ages to make deep connections. And, an added bonus will be that our new Assistant Minister Sean Neil-Baron will be at the Retreat as our Minister in Residence all weekend. I am looking forward to this chance to get to know Sean better and for him to find out what a fun bunch of people we are at Foothills.
The Buckhorn camp is located up Rist Canyon less than an hour from Fort Collins. Accommodations offered include rustic cabins with bunk beds and private bathrooms, tent camping, or shared dorms in the lodge for high school youth and young adults.
