This Sunday (September 15th) marks our return to our three-Service Schedule. This year, we’re experimenting with something new: three services, each with a distinct style, and yet all connecting us as one Foothills community.
For our 8:30, we imagine it’ll feel a little more familiar, more traditional, an experience that engages us first through the world of our minds.
Our hope for the 10:00 is that it feels energetic, emotive, embodied. The experience of a big service moving together, that starts in the heart and moves through the body with a celebratory and hopeful spirit.
And for 11:30, we will build on what we explored last church year, with a service that we hope feels renewing, a little slower-paced, focused on replenishing our bodies and souls.
Our goal in these three styles is that you can find a service that speaks in a “vocabulary” that allows you to connect in community, and to the mystery and beauty of life in a bigger way.
After about a month, we’ll begin inviting feedback. Until then, we invite you to try out different service times, and to notice how and if you experience these services differently.
Especially in these times, I feel like it’s such a privilege to serve this congregation, and to be a part of a community that embraces human diversity rather than tries to squelch it.
I’m excited to be offering my first sermon since returning from sabbatical a few weeks ago – and about what it means to “go small.” I hope to see you at one, two, or all three services!
P.S. If you’ll be traveling this Sunday, don’t worry, you can still catch all three of our services on our livestream.
